Jeanette A. Hillmann

Jeanette Hillmann, age 85, of Cannon Falls, died Monday, Feb. 13, 2023, at Cannon Rivers Senior Living.

Jeanette Ann Hillmann was born on April 24, 1937 in Morgan, MN, the daughter of Marvin and Verna (Zimmermann) Fenske. She grew up in Morgan and graduated from high school there in 1955. She went on to Mankato State Teacher’s College, receiving a bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education. Jeanette also took post-graduate classes at St. Cloud State and the University of Minnesota. She worked as a secretary at Anchor Casualty Insurance in St. Paul before entering college.

On June 25, 1966, Jeanette was married to Richard Hillmann at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Northfield. She taught 1^st Grade and Kindergarten in Northfield, Kindergarten in Michigan City, IN, as well as pre-school and Kindergarten at St. Paul’s in Cannon Falls. She was also a home healthcare worker. She was a long-time member of St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Cannon Falls.

Survivors include her children Judith Hillmann of Indianapolis, IN, and Ryan Hillmann of Cannon Falls, as well as a brother, James (Kay) Fenske, of Maple Grove, MN and a niece Nicole Fenske also of Maple Grove. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Richard, and a stillborn son, Randy.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran School in Cannon Falls

Funeral services will be on Friday, Feb. 17, at 2:00 pm, at St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, 30289 59^th Ave. Way, Cannon Falls, MN 55009. There will be a visitation at the church from 12:00 – 2:00 pm, prior to the funeral service. Interment will be in the Cannon Falls Cemetery.
