William James "Bill" Daniels, age 92 of Cannon Falls, died on Wednesday, April 28, 2010 at the Cannon Falls Medical Center.
Bill was born at home in Stanton, MN, on May 13, 1917, the son of Henry B. and Elizabeth (Robinson) Daniels. He attended country school and went on the serve with the US Army during WWII. He and Fillmore Spillman were the first two to be drafted out of Goodhue County. Bill served from July 15, 1941 until his honorable discharge on October 12, 1945. When he returned, he started working at Armour & Company in South St. Paul. He later worked at the Ford Motor company, and after many years he retired.
Bill enjoyed hunting, fishing, and rock collecting. He also had a pilot's license, and enjoyed flying small engine planes.
He is survived by his brothers and sister, Roger Daniels of Inver Grove Heights, Peggy (Willard) Emery of Stanton, and Lowell "Dick" Daniels of Dennison; many nieces and nephews; and step-son, Palmer "JR" (Barbara) Klevin of Cornville, Arizona.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Roma; brothers, Forest (Gladys) Daniels, Eugene "Gene" (Donna) Daniels, and Henry (Leatrice) Daniels; sisters, Marion (Merlin) Dack and Eleanor (Willard) Dibble; and sister-in-law, Mary Daniels.
A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, May 4 at 7:00 p.m., with visitation from 5-7 p.m., at the Lundberg Funeral Home, 5839 Hwy 19 Blvd, Cannon Falls.
Interment with military honors will be held at Fort Snelling National Cemetery on Wednesday morning, May 5 at 11:45 a.m. at Assembly Area #4.
