Wallace Henry Spence, 74, of Mesa, AZ, formerly of Cannon Falls, passed away on Monday, July 12, 2010, at Banner Baywood Hospital in Mesa, after an extended illness.
He was born July 8, 1936, in Flushing, Michigan to Wallace and Thelma (Willis) Spence. He grew up in Flint, MI. He married Sandra Power in 1956. They resided in Rosebush, MI. They later divorced, and he went on to meet Ardis Rehder Rose while living in Albuquerque, NM. They married on August 2, 1965 in Albuquerque and were remarried in Watertown, SD on January 28, 1970. They resided in Albuquerque until moving to Cannon Falls, MN to be closer to their families. Through the years he worked in construction of IBM plants, large construction projects in Annandale, VA, building large military plants in Yuma, AZ, several school in AZ, Mayo Hospital in Scottsdale, AZ and many more projects. In 1986 they moved to Apache Junction, AZ and later Mesa, AZ. They divorced in 2003.
Wally enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping, boating, motorcycling, snowmobiling, playing his guitars and other musical instruments and his beloved hobby of singing karaoke.
He is survived by special friend, Beverly Winchell, of Mesa, AZ; three sons, Kevin (Rita) Rose, and John Rose, both of Pine Island, Terry Spence of Sacramento, CA, and three daughters, Debra (Ken) Rose Brown of Pine Island, Suzan Wenzlik of Linden, MI, and Penny Zaleski of Alma, MI; 11 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers (Bernie and Chuck); one nephew (Charles), two sons (Billy and Steve) and one daughter (Tammy).
A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, August 26, 2010 at Cannon Falls Cemetery, with Pastor Carol Sinykin officiating.
