Virginia Bea Kautz, age 88 of Cannon Falls, died on Saturday evening, October 13, 2012 at the Cannon Falls Medical Center. Virginia was born on July 13, 1924 in Draper, SD, the daughter of Oscar and Florence (Millard) Leir. After her father's death, the family moved to Murdo, SD in 1934, and in 1937 moved to Randolph, MN to be closer to family. After attending school in Randolph, she moved to Aurora, IL where she met and married her first husband, William "Bill" Wennmacher. After his death, she married Frederick "Fritz" Kautz in Reno, Nevada in 1980. After Fritz retired, they moved back to Cannon Falls from Eugene, OR. Fritz died on July 20, 2011. She is survived by her sister, Wilma Turnbull of Albert Lea; sisters-in law, Mabel Mathiesen and Florence Millard, both of Spooner, WI; and many nieces and nephews. She is also survived by Fritz's children and their families, Patricia Sanseri, Frederick Jr., and Robert; brothers, Floyd and Robert, and sisters, Viola Roy, Dorothy Sele and Joan Raines, and their families. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands; and brothers, Harold Millard, Max Leir, and Lannie Mathiesen. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, October 18 at 10:00 a.m., with visitation from 9-10 a.m., at First English Lutheran Church in Cannon Falls, with Pastor Phillip Ruud officiating. Interment will follow at Fort Snelling National Cemetery at 1:05 p.m. at Assembly Area #1.
