Virginia Jacobson

Virginia Ann "Ginny" Jacobson, age 71 of Wanamingo, died on Wednesday morning, October 18, 2006 at the Zumbrota Nursing Home, where she has been residing for the past month. Ginny was born on July 14, 1935 in Kenyon, the daughter of Alf and Vera (Nesseth) Hjermstad. She graduated from Wanamingo High School in 1953, and later married Allan G. Jacobson on March 6, 1955 at Emmanuel Lutheran Church at Aspelund. She was a lifelong member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church, where she had been organist for many years.
They farmed in Leon Township, and Ginny had also worked as a teller and bookkeeper at the Security State Bank in Wanamingo during the 50's and 60's. Allan and Ginny lived in Willmar for 20 years, where Allan co-founded West Central Chemicals, INC in the mid1970's. She had also studied music, and had taught piano. Ginny had been diagnosed with multiple sclerosis over 40 years ago. She was preceded in death by her parents; and husband, Allan on January 4, 2004. She is survived by her sons, Kevin (Joyce) and Craig (Theresa), all of Wanamingo; five grandchildren, Brent, Stephanie and Gretchen Jacobson, Traci (Michael) Morris and Heidi Peterson; brothers, Allen (Audrey) Hjermstad of Kenyon and Wayne (Solveig) Hjermstad of Bruce, SD; and several nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held on Monday, October 23 at 11:00 am at Emmanuel Lutheran Church at Aspelund, with Pastor Martin Horn officiating. Interment will follow at Eidsvold Cemetery in Leon Township. Visitation will be held Sunday from 2 to 5 pm at Lundberg Funeral Home, Cannon Falls and 1 hour prior to the service at the church. Active pallbearers will be Brent Jacobson, Michael Morris, Micah Hjermstad, Terry Jacobson, Justin Schaefer and Dale Johnson. Virginia's family would like to express a special thank you to all of the home health care aids whose dedication to her care enabled her to live in her own home all these years.
