Virginia June (Schlick) Lundell, age 85, a longtime resident of Cannon Falls, entered into eternal rest on Sunday afternoon, October 10, 2010 at the Cannon Falls Medical Center. Virginia was born in Lucan, MN on February 18, 1925, the daughter of Gustav and Pearl (Woolley) Schlick. Virginia's family moved to Cannon Falls in 1940 from Lucan. She graduated from Cannon Falls High School in 1943 and later attended Bethesda Hospital Nursing School where she became a registered nurse in 1946. Virginia married Carl "Harvey" Lundell on March 7, 1947 at the First Congregational Church in Cannon Falls. She was employed as a Registered Nurse with the Mineral Springs Sanatorium in 1947. She later worked at the Cannon Falls Community Hosptial from 1958-1980. She also was employed with the Cannon Manor Nursing Home from 1980 until retiring in 1982. Virginia was a lifelong, active member of the First Congregational United Church of Christ, where she was active in the Home Study Group. She had been a member of the Cannon Falls VFW Auxiliary since 1947, and was a part of the Cadet Nurse Corps from 1943 to 1946. She also was involved with Emotions Anonymous, Red Wing Chapter since 1984. She was a long-time Tuesday Women's Club member, and enjoyed book Club with local friends, and playing Bridge. She enjoyed cooking, reading and traveling. Virginia is survived by her daughters, Judy Lundell of Minneapolis, Joyce (Chuck) Fox of Northfield, and Barb (Marty) Kehren of Lake City; three grandchildren, Kevin (Ildiko) Fox, Courtney (Randy) Dickey and Tanya (Jon) Huneke; four step grandchildren, Taylor, Makenna, Garrett and Amaya; and great-grandson, Daniel Charles Fox; sister, January (Eugene) Schmidt of Deerwood, MN; and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Gustav and Pearl Schlick; husband, Harvey on February 16, 2010; son, David Harvey Lundell; grandson, Lance David Kehren; and four brothers, Gerald, Calvin, Merton and Gustav Schlick. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, October 19 at 11:00 a.m. at the First Congregational United Church of Christ, 220 W. Main St., Cannon Falls, with Pastor Barbara Martin officiating. Visitation will be held at the church from 9:30-11 a.m. on Tuesday. Interment of her cremated remains will follow at the Cannon Falls Cemetery, with VFW Auxiliary honors. Active pallbearers will be grandchildren, Kevin and Ildiko Fox, Courtney and Randy Dickey, and Tanya and Jon Huneke. Memorials are preferred to the First Congregational Church, the Shepherd Center, NAMI (National Alliance on Mental Illness), or the Angels Care Center.
