Verone C. Mortenson

Verone Colleen Mortenson, age 84, of Cannon Falls, died Saturday, June 17, 2023 in her home unexpectedly. 

Verone was born to Douglas and Irene Anderson on December 7th, 1938. She was born on the farm down by the Cannon River.   She graduated from Centuria High School in 1956.  She met her husband, Corley, in Centuria, Wisconsin, and they were married for over 50 years until Corley passed.  They had two beautiful children, Candace and Scott.  Verone was one of a kind. She was a smart, spunky class act. She was extremely ambitious and worked a number of different jobs throughout her life. She had a talent for lefse making and her pumpkin
 pies were contest worthy. She was supportive and encouraging and was always there for family and friends. She loved to visit, drink coffee, shop, phone chats, go to the salon, traveling with her sister, and most of all, she loved her family. She left a lasting impression on everyone that she met. She will be deeply missed by many. 

Verone is survived by her children Candace (Lee) Volkert and Scott (Kim) Mortenson, two grandchildren Chelsey (Chris Bennett),  and Brighton (Angie) Volkert; four great grandchildren Tommy, Vivian Verone, Madelyn & Dillinger; her sister Durene Mies; brother Larry Anderson; her loving Boston Terrier Mandy, and a number of nieces, nephews and cousins. She is now reunited with her husband Corley, her parents Douglas & Irene Anderson, her brother Gary Anderson, and her grandmother Annette (Nanae) Kolstad. 

Funeral services will be held Thursday, June 22, 2023 at St. Mark's Lutheran Church, 28595 Randolph Blvd, Randolph, MN 55065. There will be a visitation at the church at 10am, Service at 11am, with a luncheon to follow. Interment will be at the  Cannon Falls Cemetery.
