Verneal Novotny

Verneal Katheryn Novotny, age 85 of Cannon Falls, passed away at her home on Monday morning, June 6, 2011. Verneal was born on February 20, 1926 in Otsego Township, the daughter of Leo and Agnes Ida (O'Connell) Roden. She graduated from Osseo High School. Verneal married Louis Novotny on July 20, 1944 at St. Vincent Catholic Church in Osseo, MN. Verneal worked at Dayton's Flower Shop, the Slurp Factory and the Cannon Falls Bakery. She was a longtime member of St. Pius V Catholic Church in Cannon Falls. She enjoyed spending time with her family, working on her flower and vegetable gardens and polka dancing. She is survived by her beloved husband, Louis Novotny of Cannon Falls; children, Richard (Cheryl) Novotny of Evansville, Raymond Novotny of St. Anthony, Donald "Greg" (Sarah) Novotny of Cannon Falls, Kathleen (Harry) Thompson of Maple Grove, Mary Jo (Clyde) Meadows of Thornton, CO, Patricia (Dave) Thurmes of Hastings, Lawrence "Bobby" (Traci Sandstrom) Novotny of Hampton, Gerald "Jerry" Novotny of Cannon Falls, Daniel (Michelle) Novotny of Cannon Falls and Carol "Susie" (John) Yoakum of San Antonio, TX; 32 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; one sister, Corrine (George) Beucler, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; sons, Michael and Jerome "Joe"; two infant daughters; and sister, Patricia Dehn. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, June 10 at 11:00 a.m. at the St. Pius V Catholic Church in Cannon Falls, with Father Leonard Siebenaler and Father Jay Kythe officiating. Visitation will be held on Thursday, June 9 from 5-8 p.m. at Lundberg Funeral Home in Cannon Falls and one hour prior to service at church. Interment will be held immediately following service at St. Pius V Catholic Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Richard, Raymond, Donald "Greg", Lawrence "Bobby", Gerald "Jerry" and Daniel Novotny.
