Vern Robert Hemmah, age 75, a lifelong resident of Cannon Falls, died on Thursday afternoon, September 14, 2006 at the Fairview Southdale Hospital in Edina. Vern was born on December 18, 1930 in Sisseton, South Dakota, the son of Robert B. and Anna "Evelyn" (Jordahl) Hemmah. He attended school at Cannon Falls, and later served in the Army and Army Reserve. He married Joanne Hendel in 1953, and they later divorced. Vern was employed for over 30 years as a plumber, and had worked for most of those years at Wenzel Mechanical in Eagan, retiring in 1995. He was a member of the Plumbers Union Local #34. He was a member of the First English Lutheran Church in Cannon Falls, where he had enjoyed a mission trip to Biloxi this past March. Vern enjoyed being with his family, and was really proud of his children and grandchildren. Attending the Hemmah and Berg family reunions was very important to him, and he wanted his family to be there, too! He enjoyed traveling, and most enjoyed getting in his pickup and just going! He loved going up north to the cabin, where he could spend special time with his grandchildren. He also loved to fish, and to just be surrounded by the woods. Vern will be fondly remembered as a plain, quiet man that would always be there for family and friends, and always took care of everything! He is survived by his children, Chris Hemmah of Woodbury, Mike Hemmah (friend, Sharon Lines) of Cannon Falls, Tom (Nancy) Hemmah of Burnsville, Ron (Linda) Hemmah of Cannon Falls and John (Betsy) Hemmah of South St. Paul; 9 grandchildren, Naomi, Scott, Shane, Jacob, Dan, Felicia, Justin, Jason and Barbara; great-grandson, Avery Wells; twin sister, Violet (Dale) Lorenson of Cannon Falls; brother, Donald (Jeanette) Hemmah of Red Wing; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by h is parents; grandson, Preston Hemmah; brother, Merlan Hemmah; and niece and nephew, Janet and Richard Lorenson. Funeral service will be held on Monday, September 18 at 2:00 p.m. at the First English Lutheran Church, 511 W.
