Thomas Shorter

Thomas A. Shorter, age 57, of Cannon Falls, died Saturday, December 22, 2018 at St. Mary’s Hospital in Rochester.

Tom was born on February 24, 1961, in Faribault, the son of Estel and Evelyn (Garness) Shorter. He grew up in Cannon Falls, graduating from Cannon Falls High School in 1979. He then attended St. Cloud State University, where he graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in Business Management. Tom worked several different jobs in his early years, including Kid Duds, Supervalu and as manager of a Wendy’s restaurant. While working for Wendy’s, he met Barb Bombardier. Tom and she were married on May 10, 1986, at First English Lutheran Church. Tom worked for Rainbow Foods, and he was a Sales Manager at Sears for many years.

Tom was a member of First English Lutheran Church where he served on the church council as a member and President. He was also a confirmation leader and served on the church's foundation board. Tom greatly enjoyed volunteering with the youth of the church at their various activities. He enjoyed woodworking, woodcarving, fishing, hunting, and cooking (especially experimenting with new recipes.) He enjoyed reading and solving crossword and Sudoku puzzles. Tom loved connecting and spending time with his family and friends.

Survivors include his wife Barb, children Chris (Nicole), Jessica, and Matt (fiancée Sky); grandchildren Aiden, Collin, and Mirielle; brothers Bob, Ken (Judy), Don (Carole) and Richard (Kathy); sister Corrine Lange (Mike Knodle); brother-in-law John Nelson; and many nieces and nephews. Tom was preceded in death by his parents and his sister Marlene Nelson.

Visitation will be on Friday, December 28, 2018 from 4-8:00 pm at the Lundberg Funeral Home, 5839 Hwy 19 Blvd, Cannon Falls, MN  55009. The funeral service will be on Saturday, December 29, 2018 at 11:00 am, at First English Lutheran Church, 511 Belle St., Cannon Falls, MN  55009. There will also be a visitation from 10-11:00 am at the church on Saturday. Interment will be in the Cannon Falls Cemetery in the Spring.
