Sylvia Marie Johnson, age 72, of Cannon Falls died on Saturday, November 8, 2008 at the Angels Care Center in Cannon Falls.
Sylvia was born on December 19, 1935 in St. Paul, the daughter of Carl Edwin and Genevieve Melina (Tourville) Schultz.
Sylvia attended St.Paul elementary school and graduated from St.Croix Falls WI High School in 1955. She married Alan Johnson on June 2, 1956 in Centuria, WI.
Sylvia was very caring and nurturing to many people. She was a very good baker, cook and an excellent seamstress. She loved traveling and appreciated the history of our country. She also did a lot of camping and spent time in the outdoors, her favorite vacation spot was being by the lake. She was an avid Vikings fan and could often be heard yelling at the television “Get ‘em”!
She is a member of the VFW Women’s Auxiliary and had served as past president . She volunteered to assist with many Blood Mobile drives at St.Pius church.
Sylvia is lovingly survived by her daughters, Nancy (Tom) Hemmah of Burnsville and Melodie (Jeffery) Needham of River Falls, WI; her son, Mike (Laura) Johnson of Cannon Falls; grandchildren, Genevieve (Joe) Score, Naomi Hemmah, Valerie (Mark) Lundgren, Scott Hemmah, Blake Needham, Courtney, Stephen and LeeLa Johnson; and her great grandchildren, Sid, Dylan, Parker and Ella.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Alan; brother, Dick; and a grandson, Philip.
Active casketbearers will be Mike Johnson, Stephen Johnson, Mark Lundgren, Joe Score, Blake Neeham, Scott Hemmah and Troy Szczepanski.
