STELLA PARBERRY PHILLIPS Stella died peacefully on Sunday September. 12th with her husband Stephen at her side. She died at Fairview Seminary Home after a 17year battle with brain cancer complicated by pneumonia. She was 40 years old. Stella was born in Philadelphia. She spent most of her childhood in Ledyard (CT). She always loved the arts and played the piano. She graduated from St. Bernard High School (CT) and continued her education at Virginia Wesleyan College, majoring in French Education. Part of her college curriculum included an exciting year in Lyon, France. After receiving her B.A. she taught French in public schools. Stella was diagnosed with brain cancer when she was 22 years old but she continued to teach. She married Stephen Paul Phillips in Groton, CT and they bought their first home in Colchester (CT). A new job took them to Deerfield NH and after many years, they were able to welcome their miracle baby, Veronica Rose, into the world in 2005. Stella taught piano, French, and puppet making to many home schooled children in the area. She also completed her M.A. degree in French at Middlebury College (VT) and continued to take teaching positions. Steve and Stella enjoyed a full and active life together. They hosted an annual Christmas party for neighbors and friends and enjoyed many domestic vacations and visited Paris together. They are very active in their church, First Baptist Church, Cannon Falls. Stella is survived by her beloved husband Stephen and daughter Veronica Rose. She is also survived by her mother Laura Stilling Maceyka, step-father Jay, brother Matt, sister-in-law Crystal and niece Lily of Milton (VT); her adoptive father Edward Parberry and step-mother Luanne (CT); her mother-in-law Karen and father-in-law Michael Donahue (AZ), step mother Mary Dimitropoulos, brother in law, Dimitri; sister in law, Bethany, brother in law Michael and niece Whitney (MN); step sister Christina Park and her brother, David Altamuro (CT). Stella has aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends all over the United States. She also has many friends in other countries from her pen-pal activities and travels. Everyone will miss her "Family and Friends" weekly emails and her creative spirit. We will love and miss you always, dear Stella: daughter, wife, mother, friend and teacher. Funeral Service 11 AM Friday September 17, 2010 at First Baptist Church, 401 N. Bridge St., Cannon Falls. Visitation 5-8 PM Thursday at Lundberg Funeral Home, 5839 Hwy 19 Blvd, Cannon Falls. Memorials in Stella's name can be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
