Stanley E. Hoffman, age 78 of No. St. Paul, died Friday, January 4, 2008 at Angels Care Center, Cannon Falls, where he has resided for the past 3 1/2 years. He was born May 7, 1929 in Hastings, the son of Peter C. and Ethel (Kieffer) Hoffman.
Stan served with the US Marine Corps during WW II and the Korean Conflict, being honorably discharged in 1952. He was a member of the American Legion Post #39 in No. St. Paul. He had been employed as a roofer with Berwald Roofing Co. in No. St. Paul for over 45 years. He was a member of Roofers Local #96.
Stan was an avid fisherman and hunter, and loved spending time at their cabin on Lake Vermillion in Tower, MN. If not out fishing or hunting, he enjoyed being in his den.
He is survived by his wife, JoAnn (nee Stave); children, Linda (Wyman) Johnson of Hastings, Pam Murray of No. St. Paul, Gary (Sue) of Hastings, Debbie (Henry) Nawrocki of Hastings, Kelly Jacobs, Christal and Douglas, all of No. St. Paul; 11 grandchildren, Cheyanne, Dakota, Kerry, Ed, Jamie, Angela, Cassie, Erin, Peter, Jason and Nicole; 12 great-grandchildren; brother, Jim (Bev) of Hastings; many nieces, nephews and loving in-laws.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Peter and Ethel Hoffman, son, Richard Murray; and two infant granddaughters, Casey Rae and Fawn Nicole.
Funeral will be held on Wednesday, January 9 at 11 a.m. at the First English Lutheran Church in Cannon Falls, with Pastor Phillip Ruud officiating. Interment with military honors will follow at the Cannon Falls Cemetery. Visitation will be held Tuesday from 4-8 p.m. at Lundberg Funeral Home in Cannon Falls. There will also be visitation on Wednesday at church from 10-11 a.m.
