Ruben Mendez

Ruben Mendez, age 73 of Cannon Falls, passed away peacefully August 28, 2022, surrounded by family.

He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Gail; children: Miguel, Sara (John), Yolanda (Mike); siblings: Alice, Rachel, Vince, Ray, Kenny, and Paul; and many beloved nieces and nephews.

He was formerly of Hawley and Crookston, MN. Although his passing was unexpected, he lived a full and happy life with many interests and hobbies. In addition to riding the rails with BNSF for 33 years, he enjoyed gardening, teaching tai chi, music, guitar making, and woodworking.

He was always ready to lend a hand or ear and tell a joke.

Ruben was proud of his Mexican-American heritage and was an advocate for Migrant Health and preserving Mexican-American culture.

A private gathering of family and friends will be held.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the Randolph-Hampton Fire Department.
