Royal Featherstone

Royal Myron Featherstone, age 84 of Cannon Falls, died unexpectedly on Saturday morning, September 17, 2011. He was born on October 28, 1926 in Red Wing, MN, the son of Oliver and Helen (Hendel) Featherstone. He was baptized December 27, 1926. He was confirmed on May 11, 1941. He was a life long active member of the United Lutheran Church of Red Wing. On June 13, 1987 he married Jeanne Kvittem of Cannon Falls, MN and resided in Cannon Falls. He served as associate advisor for the Explorer Scouts of United Lutheran Church. He served on the White Water Camporee Staff for several years, and also served as Fall Camporee Chief for the Game Haven Council of Boy Scouts of America. He served five years in the Minnesota Defense Force during the World War II and Korean Wars. He was an active member of the Cannon Falls Lion Club. He worked for PPG and ADM at the same plant for forty-two years in Red Wing. He retired on January 1, 1989. He is survived by his wife, Jeanne; 3 step sons, Randy (Ann) Kvittem of Eagan, Myles of Dillon, Colorado, and Ross (Jeanine) of Burnsville; 3 step grandchildren, Brent, Jamie and Evan; three great granddaughters, Greta, Ava, and Ella; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Carol (Don) Larson; infant brother, James and brothers, Richard, Sumner, Wilmer, and Oron. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 20 from 5-8 p.m. at Lundberg Funeral Home in Cannon Falls. Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, September 21 at 11:00 a.m., with visitation from 10-11 a.m., at United Lutheran Church in Red Wing, with Pastor Randall Johnson officiating. Following a luncheon, interment will follow at Hope Cemetery in Featherstone Township. Active pallbearers will be Jon Featherstone, Butch Featherstone, Steve Castner, Brent Kvittem, Jamie Kvittem, and Evan Kvittem. Memorials are preferred to donor's choice.
