Ronald L. "Ron" Thurber, Sr., age 67 of Randolph Township, died at his home on Friday morning, August 29, 2008, following a lengthy illness.
Ron was born on March 10, 1941 in Saint Paul, the son of William B. and Ethel (Johnson) Thurber. He served as a cook with the US Army in Germany during the Vietnam Era. He was a former employee of Tastee Bakery in Saint Paul.
He enjoyed fishing, old cars, and spending time with his children and grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Pat; three children, Ron Jr. (Kristin), Michelle and Bob; seven grandchildren, Alex, Niki, Dani, Ron Jr. Jr., Cody, Rochelle, and Dakota; brother, Robert W. (Marilyn) Thurber of Boardman, WI; nieces and nephews; and his cats.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
A gathering for family and friends will be held on Tuesday, September 2 from 6-8 p.m. at Lundberg Funeral Home in Cannon Falls.
Interment of his cremated remains will take place at a later date at Fort Snelling National Cemetery, with full military honors.
