Ronald Rechtzigel

Ronald James "Ron" Rechtzigel, age 57 of Cannon Falls, died accidentally on Tuesday, February 7, 2017 in North Dakota. He was doing what he loved to do, hunting coyote. Ron was born on October 27, 1959 in Saint Paul, MN, the son of Arthur G. and Delores A. (Spillman) Rechtzigel. He graduated from Cannon Falls High School in 1978, and married his high school sweetheart, Cynthia A. Sjoquist on August 4, 1979 at Spring Garden Lutheran Church. They were blessed with three children. Ron worked with various masonry businesses before starting his own, Sogn Valley Masonry, in 2002. He was proud of his work, and was well known for his precision and professional finish. He was an avid outdoorsman and had a passion for hunting all animals, especially coyotes, locally and in North Dakota. He was a lifetime member of the Oxford Sportsmen's Club in Cannon Falls and of the N.R.A. He loved spending time with his family, and absolutely adored his six grandbabies. He is survived by his beloved wife of 37 years, Cynthia "Cindy"; children, Jennifer (Philip) Jandro of Cannon Falls, Amy (Justin) Samuelson of Cannon Falls, and Matthew (Stephanie) Rechtzigel of Cottage Grove; grandchildren, Emma LeVesque, Natalie Rechtzigel, Karina Jandro, Lydia Samuelson, Melanie Rechtzigel, and Nathan Rechtzigel; his parents, Art and Delores Rechtzigel of Cannon Falls; sisters and brothers, Bonnie (Fred) Holte of Harris, MN, Dennis (Patty) Rechtzigel of Red Wing, Doug (Jan) Rechtzigel of Cannon Falls, twin Randy (Ann) Rechtzigel of Cannon Falls, and Brenda Rechtzigel (Jack Ables) of Zumbrota; and many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. He is also survived by many other loving relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his father-in-law, Robert Sjoquist and mother-in-law, Elaine Brumm. A visitation will be held on Saturday, Feb. 11 from 4-8 p.m. at Lundberg Funeral Home in Cannon Falls. Funeral service will be held on Sunday, Feb. 12 at 2:00 p.m., with visitation from 1-2 p.m., at Spring Garden Lutheran Church. Interment will follow at the church cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Keith Travers, Mitch Melhouse, Guy Cunningham, Jerry Otto, Eric Otto, and Jesse Donaldson. Honorary pallbearers will be his grandchildren.
