On Sunday, January 7, 2018, Roger Budensiek was called upon by the Lord. The Lord knew that Roger’s work here on earth was complete, but needed him for other needs in heaven. Roger was 82 years young. He is survived by his first love, Janice Budensiek. Roger and Janice were married for an incredible, and unheard of 61 years, without a single day passing by letting each other know how much they loved and adored each other.
He also leaves behind his daughter Pam Holubetz, daughter Paula (Jim) Stewart, son Todd (Virginia) Budensiek, 12 grandchildren, 11 great- grandchildren, sister Pauline (Glen) Todd, and sister-in-law Sharon (Roger) Krech. Two of the grandchildren were blessed to have their grandpa, Roger, officiate their wedding.
Roger made sure to pass along his wealth of love, compassion, and empathy. He also had an affinity for the outdoors. Roger loved hunting, fishing, gardening, cooking, Longaberger baskets, farming, and his passion for Christ. Some of Roger’s greatest memories are baking cookies with Janice, rolling lefse with the grandkids, and devouring caramel popcorn every Christmas around a cozy fire.
We all knew that he loved us and everything will be okay knowing that he was going to a better place, watching over us, while sharing a cup of hot coffee and pancakes with our Lord, Jesus Christ.
Roger was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Minnie Budensiek, sister Hazel Budensiek, brother Clayton (Norma) Budensiek, son-in-law Kevin Holubetz, grandson Matt Stewart, great grandson Koob Hmoov Stewart, and other relatives.
A visitation will be held on Friday, January 19 from 4-7 p.m. at St. Luke Lutheran Church, Goodhue. The memorial service will be on Saturday, January 20 at 11 a.m., with visitation from 10-11 a.m., all at St. Luke.
