Rodney Howard "Dick" Duncan, age 90, passed away quietly at home in Rochester on July 7, 2016 surrounded by members of his family and dedicated hospice professionals. Born November 7, 1925 in Cannon Falls, he was preceded in death by his parents Howard and Mabel and sisters Dorothy and June (Ista). He is survived by his sister Betty (Gergen); his beloved wife of 69 years, Verlaine (Fogelson); daughter Barbara (Robert) Mulder; sons Richard, Gary (Jodi), Douglas, Randy (Kim) and Timothy (Theresa); 13 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. As a proud veteran, he served his country during WWII in the Merchant Marine. An engineer and electrician by trade, he worked for the State Academy for the Deaf in Faribault, retiring in 1988. Active in church and the lives of his children, his family and faith always came first. Even as his health declined, he remained the patient, kind and loving man he had always been and his quick-witted sense of humor never deserted him. A service of celebration and remembrance will be held at Lundberg Funeral Home in Cannon Falls on July 22 at 2:00 p.m., with visitation from 1-2 p.m. A military farewell will follow immediately after services at the funeral home.
