Robert Stahnke

Robert E. “Animal” Stahnke, age 70, of Cannon Falls, lost his battle with cancer on Thursday, September 27, 2018 at his home in Cannon Falls

Bob was born on May 16, 1948 in Farmington, the son of Leslie and Glenyce (Belden) Stahnke. He grew up there and graduated from Farmington High School in 1966.  On June 19 of 1967 he and Arleen Deutsch eloped to Ontonagon, Michigan where they were married. They were later married again, in a church service in Farmington on August 9, 1975. Bob worked as a Brick Mason in the construction industry over the course of 35 years. His employers included Jackson Fireplace, C. G. Construction, and Metcon where he retired after many years. He also worked as a general contractor for several years and as a maintenance man at Twin Rivers in his retirement.

Bob’s faith was very important to him and he was a longtime member of Vasa Lutheran Church. He enjoyed gardening, (especially tomatoes), animals, dogs, bicycling, motorcycles, and radio controlled airplanes. He especially loved his dog Ozzie. He loved and studied the martial arts. Bob really loved people and will be long remembered for his laugh. Most of all he loved the time he spent with his family.

Survivors include his wife Arleen; children Troy (Lisa) Stahnke, Jason (Malissa) Stahnke, and Nicole (Chris) Giese; nine grandchildren; brother Tom (Judy) Stahnke; and several nieces and nephews. Bob was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Bruce Stahnke.

Visitation will be on Tuesday, October 2, 2018, from 4-7:00 pm, at the Lundberg Funeral Home, 5939 Hwy 19 Blvd, Cannon Falls, MN  55009. Memorial services will be on Wednesday, October 3, 2018 at 11:00 am at Vasa Lutheran Church, 15235 Norelius Rd., Welch, MN 55089. There will also be a visitation at the church one hour prior to the service. Interment will be in the Vasa Lutheran Church Cemetery at a later date.
