Ricky "Rick" Bodeker

Ricky Arthur “Rick” Bodeker, age 66 of Cannon Falls, died at his home on Friday, June 11, 2021.  Rick was born in Minneapolis, MN, the son of Richard and Marion (Wilson) Bodeker.  He lived in Bloomington through his first year of Normandy College.  Forsaking his football scholarship, Rick worked with his father (and brother, Randy) until purchasing Bloomington Plating.  In 1984 they moved both businesses to Eagan and changed his business name to Bo-Décor Metal Finishing, Inc., which he owned and operated until his death.

Rick married Connie Lynn Pederson in 1986.  They ultimately made their home in Cannon Falls at Bluff Breeze Farm.  In 1995, Rick and Connie started BBF Alpacas, Inc., which they enjoyed for more than 20 years.

Rick thoroughly enjoyed his family, business, dogs, alpacas, and farm, as well as the great outdoors.   His property is a testament to his incredible creativity and desire to work with his hands.  In later years, Rick surprised everyone with creating beautiful pieces of fine jewelry.

Fishing was one of his greatest pleasures.  Rick, with lifelong fishing partner Max, earned the 1995 World Walleye Championship title after years of fishing the Masters Walleye Circuit. Rick loved to expose others to his passion by taking people fishing that might never have had the chance to enjoy it as he had for his entire life.  Rick volunteered whenever possible in the fishing and alpaca industries.

He is survived by his wife of 34 years, Connie; brother, Randy Lowry (Kathleen Carey) Bodeker of Eagan; nieces, Molly (Jason) Johannes and their children of Lakeville, Emily Bodeker of Minneapolis, and nephew, Thomas (Megan) Bodeker of Lakeville; as well as beloved uncles and many treasured cousins and their families.

His heart was tender for children and veterans.  In lieu of flowers, please send memorials to St. Jude  Hospital, Shriners Hospital for Children, or Take a Vet Fishing organization.

A Celebration of Rick’s Life will be held at the farm on Sunday, June 27 from 1:00 to 5:00 pm.
