Richard Lynn Banks, age 73, passed away peacefully on Saturday, December 10, 2022, after a 3 ½ year journey with cancer.
Rick was born in Red Wing, MN, to Raymond and Irene (Quam) Banks on October 27, 1949. He was raised on the family farm outside of Miesville. He graduated from Cannon Falls High School in 1967.
On August 17, 1968 he was united in marriage to Susan Johnson at Cannon River Lutheran Church.
Rick worked at Koch Refinery (Flint Hills) for 28 years. He started as a laborer and over the years held several positions. At the time of his early retirement he was a Maintenance Superintendent. He then became a realtor, working for Cannon Realty. He became a broker and went into partnership at Carnel Realty. After many years he sold his share of the business to Rob and heryl Siebenaler, which is now Weichert Realty. He continued to work there part-time until mid 2022. He was known in the industry for his honesty and integrity.
Rick was elected to the Goodhue County Co-op Electric Association Board in 2015 and was currently serving as President of the Board, since 2020. Rick was very interested in all sources of energy. He valued the friendships he made with employees and Board members.
Rick was an avid big buck hunter and walleye fisherman.
His favorite activities were mowing the lawn and planting food plots for wildlife at his acreages near his home and in Wisconsin. Always with one of his fleet of Kubotas!
Rick is survived by his wife, Sue; daughter, Melissa (Randy) and son, Scott (Stacie); beloved grandchildren, Cody, Erica (Matt), Sierra, and Griffin; and great-grandson, Miles Banks Iverson. Also surviving him are siblings; brothers, Rodney (Cathy) and Robert (Marlene); and sisters, Sharon (Al) Niebur and Barbara (Chuck) Flynn.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and Irene Banks.
The family will be hosting a Celebration of Life on Saturday, June 10, 2023 from 2:00-5:00pm in the lower level of St. Ansgar's Lutheran Church, 7459 Hwy 19 Blvd, Cannon Falls. Memorials are preferred to donor's choice.
