Rebecca Leifeld

Rebecca Nora "Becky" (Gadient) Leifeld, age 57 of Vermillion, died on Sunday evening, July 3, 2016 at Our Lady of Peace Hospice Home in St. Paul. Becky was born on November 29, 1958 in Zumbrota, the daughter of Gerald and Irenetis "Neta" (Winkels) Gadient. She graduated from Goodhue High School in 1977 and went to Red Wing Area Vo-Tech for 2 years, receiving her accounting certificate. She married Donald "Don" Leifeld on August 21, 1982 at St. Columbkill Catholic Church, Belle Creek. She farmed her whole life, and the last 15 years she has worked as a cook with the Hastings School District #200, where she made many great friends! She was devoted to her family, and especially loved spending time with her grandsons. She enjoyed hunting, fishing, making summer sausage, and baking. She loved watching high school wrestling. She is survived by her husband of over 33 years, Don; sons, Brian (fiance' Katie Kassa) of Farmington, Kevin and Matthew, both of Vermillion; grandsons, Bradey and R.J. (Richard James); mother, Neta Gadient of Goodhue; mother-in-law, Helen Leifeld of Hastings; brother and sisters, Kenneth of Goodhue, Sarah (Mark) Jennings of Red Wing, Judith (David) Meyer of Crookston, and Beverly Gadient of Prior Lake; and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and in-laws. She was preceded in death by her father, Gerald; infant sister; and two brothers, Eugene and Gregory Gadient. A visitation will be held on Thursday, July 7 from 4-8 p.m. at Lundberg Funeral Home in Cannon Falls. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, July 8 at 10:30 a.m., with visitation from 9:30-10:30 a.m., at the Church of Saint John the Baptist in Vermillion. Interment will follow at the church cemetery. A luncheon will follow in the church basement. Active pallbearers will be Brian, Kevin and Matthew Leifeld, Tom Niedzielski, Kenneth Gadient, and Charles Jennings. Memorials are preferred to donor's choice.
