Phyllis Olson

Phyllis Irene Olson, age 80, of Cannon Falls, died Saturday, August 5, 2017 at her home, surrounded by her family. Phyllis was born on March 23, 1937 in Boone County, Missouri, the daughter of Otis and Ruby (Durk) West. She grew up in Hallsville, MO, graduating from high school there in 1955. On August 17, 1956 Phyllis was united in marriage to Paul N. Olson in Columbia, MO. They came to Minnesota in 1961 following Paul's discharge from the service and finishing college. They lived first in Worthington, then Cottage Grove, finally settling in Cannon Falls. Phyllis enjoyed golfing, bowling, planting and growing flowers, and doing word search puzzles. She loved antiques and country music. She very much enjoyed spending time at the lake home. Most important to Phyllis was the time she spent with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Survivors include her husband Paul N. Olson; children Debra (Roger) Haggstrom, Pam Serres, Diane (Tim) Benson, and John (Dena) Olson; grandchildren Krista (Charley) Sheridan, Michael (Sherry) Haggstrom, Katie (Jesse) Gesme, Ginny (Blake Danielson) Benson, Matthew (Korie Jackson) Benson, Johnna Olson, Zachery Olson, Ashly Serres, and Connor Serres; great-grandchildren Katelyn and Madison Haggstrom, Jackson and Rylynn Sheridan; sister Kathryn Quisenberry; sister-in-law Delaine Olson; and many nieces and nephews. Phyllis was preceded in death by her parents, her son David Carl, sister Connie Reynolds, son-in-law Steve Serres, and many brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law. Funeral services will be on Wednesday, August 9, at 11:00 am at First English Lutheran Church, 511 W. Belle St., Cannon Falls. Visitation will be from 4-7:00 pm, Tuesday, August 8, 2017 at the Lundberg Funeral Home, 5839 Highway 19 Blvd., Cannon Falls. There will also be visitation one hour prior to the service at the church on Wednesday.
