Phillip Herbert “Herb” Nerison, age 76 of Cannon Falls, died on Tuesday afternoon, August 25, 2020 at the University of Minnesota Medical Center – East Bank.
Herb was born on August 13, 1944 in Red Wing, MN, the son of Phillip T. and Helen R. (Loken) Nerison. He was baptized and confirmed at Minneola Lutheran Church. After graduating from Wanamingo High School in 1962, he attended St. Olaf College.
Herb married Pauline A. Erickson on October 5, 1974 at Spring Garden Lutheran Church. He was a member of Spring Garden Lutheran Church, where he served on the church council. He had also sung with the choirs at both Minneola and Spring Garden.
He worked most of his life in the dairy farming industry. He worked for Fiegel’s Surge in Pine Island, was a herdsman for Erickson Brothers, and owned and operated the family dairy farm, retiring in 2000.
Herb enjoyed all sports, including baseball, football, and golf. He also liked to waterski and go boating. He was an avid Packer fan and enjoyed watching the MN Twins. He loved all music, especially Barber Shop style. Above all, he loved his family, particularly spending time with his grandchildren. He will be greatly missed and his kind, loving nature will always be remembered.
He is survived by his wife of over 45 years, Pauline; son, Eric and his wife, Michelle of Cannon Falls; daughter, Megan of Cannon Falls; grandchildren, Sophia and Finnegan Nerison; sisters and brothers, Jeanette (Dale) Anderson of Cannon Falls, Mark (Brenda) Nerison, Leon (Lynette) Nerison, and Bonnie (Wayne) Hermann, all of Wanamingo; sister-in-law, Sandra Erickson of Cannon Falls; brother-in-law, Allen (Kay) Erickson of Cannon Falls; and many nieces and nephews, and great nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Phillip and Helen Nerison; granddaughter, Petrina Nerison; niece, Sheree Hermann; and brother-in-law, Charles Erickson.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, August 30 from 1-3 pm at Spring Garden Lutheran Church. MASKS ARE REQUIRED!
The funeral ceremony will follow at the Spring Garden Park Shelter OUTSIDE at 3 pm. Please BRING YOUR OWN CHAIR, and it can be set up around the shelter upon arrival. Keep socially distanced from other attendees and continue to wear your masks.
Active pallbearers will be his nephews, Brad and Todd Anderson, Jared, Kyle, and Jeff Nerison, Todd, Jeff, and Brian Erickson.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Spring Garden Church and JDRF (Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.)
