Phillip "Phil" Lee Schramske, age 63 of Byron passed away on Wednesday, June 15, 2011. Phillip was born on November 1, 1947 in Red Wing, the son of Donald and Gaynelle (Bollum) Schramske. He graduated from Cannon Falls High School before serving in the United States Army. Phillip married Char Copley on February 28, 1975 at First English Lutheran Church in Cannon Falls. He worked as an auto body repairman all of his life. Phil loved everything about stockcar racing, a passion that began at age 16. If he wasn't racing on the track himself, he was watching it in the grandstands or on TV. He enjoyed repairing old cars, water-skiing and watching old James Bond and martial arts movies. He loved Florida and the time he spent living there with Char. Phil enjoyed spending time with family and friends at the cabin on Lake Pepin, in Canada every September or around the Christmas tree. He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Char; sons, Scott Schramske and Gregory (Tiffany) Ziemer; grandchildren, Zeke, Tristen and Tori Ziemer; brothers, Jim Schramske and Tom (Carlyn) Schramske; sisters, Linda (Kenny) Putnam, Sharon Aamodt and Carol Gerlich; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; grandparents; and nephew, Jason Aamodt.
