Paulette Colette Friesen, age 61, of Cannon Falls MN passed away peacefully, surrounded by loved ones, on Saturday April 7, 2018.
Paulette was born to Rueben and Cyrilla Friese on February 14, 1957, the youngest of 4 siblings. She met her lifelong love, Kenny, when she was 14. She graduated from Hastings High School in 1975, and she and Kenny were married later that same year. They went on to have two children, Keith and Erica.
Paulette loved the outdoors. She, Kenny and the kids spent many summer weekends at Mille Lacs Lake, fishing and camping. She was an avid fisherwoman and deer hunter. She loved baseball, especially the Miesville Mudhens and was affectionately known as “The Yippy Skippy Lady” by the team, other fans and residents of Miesville (even those not in attendance!) as whenever the Mudhens would score she could be heard far and wide yelling “Yippy Skippy!”. This embarrassed young Keith and Erica to no end, a fact that I assure you she took delight in. She was also an avid Green Bay Packers fan and took much pleasure in razzing her friends and family who were Vikings fans. She always had a new joke or two at the ready and loved sharing them. Paulette was a caring woman with a huge heart who always put her loved ones ahead of herself.
Paulette found much joy in her grandchildren; Bella, Logan, Kira, Maia, Caelan, Jonah and Ahna. She loved a good game of Battleship with them or building a domino chain to topple. She always had a freezie pop or some ice cream waiting for them.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Rueben and Cyrilla Friese; and her sisters, Lorraine Pommerening and Kathy Fick.
Paulette is survived by her husband of 43 years, Ken; her children and grandchildren, Keith (Tanya) Friesen of Ellsworth, Wi and their children Bella, Kira, Maia, Jonah and Ahna, and Erica Heinlein of Cannon Falls and her children Logan and Caelan; brother Gene (Bonnie) Friese of Miesville; brothers-in-law, Don Pommerening and Jim Fick. She is also survived by aunts, an uncle, and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
A memorial gathering will be held on Thursday, April 12 from 4-7 p.m., with a brief service at 7pm, at Lundberg Funeral Home in Cannon Falls. Honorary pallbearers will be her grandchildren.
