Orville Lundell

Orville "Lyle" Lundell, age 93 of Cannon Falls, died Friday, May 16, 2014 at the Angel's Care Center in Cannon Falls. Funeral services will be 11:00 am Thursday, May 22, 2014 at St. Ansgar's Lutheran Church, 7459 Hwy 19 Blvd, Cannon Falls with visitation one hour prior to the service at church. Interment will be in the Cannon Falls Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the Cannon Falls Veteran's Memorial, local food shelf or St. Ansgar's Lutheran Church. Orville "Lyle" Lundell was born February 16, 1921 in Cannon Falls, Minnesota to Carl and Florence (Holmes) Lundell. He was attended Cannon Falls High School and worked at the Lundell Service Station. He entered active duty with the US Army on July 3, 1942 and fought in the Battle of the Bulge during WWII. Lyle was a recipient of the Purple Heart and was honorably discharged in December of 1945. He was united in marriage to Ruby Otterness at the Dennison Lutheran Parsonage on May 16, 1953. They were residents of Cannon Falls their whole life. He was a member of the Cannon Falls Fire Department for many years and active in the VFW where he was involved in the Honor Guard. Lyle loved family get-togethers, lutefisk and recycling. Lyle is survived by his sister, Phyllis (Bob) Ellingson of Battle Lake, Minnesota; sister-in-law Margaret Lundell of Minneapolis and many nieces and nephews; his caregivers, Kris Bodette, Tracy Weidner, Keith and Betty Lou Johnson. He is preceded in death by his wife Ruby; parents; sister, Carol Schlick and brothers, Harvey, Bud and Jerry. Casketbearers will be members of the Cannon Falls Fire Department.
