Norman Ista

Norman Donald Ista, age 80 of Inver Grove Heights, died on Wednesday afternoon, May 4, 2011 at the United Hospital in St. Paul. Norman was born at home in Hampton Township on August 22, 1930, the son of Herman E. and Isabelle L. (Vaughan) Ista. He attended high school in Randolph and lived on the family farm, where he helped with the farming. He also started his truck driving career, and continued truck driving throughout his life with various companies until retiring. In April, 1950, Norman married Mary Lou Strom and they later divorced. In 1955, they moved from the farm to Red Wing. They later moved to Inver Grove Heights in 1966, where he continued to reside. Norman enjoyed stock car racing and traveling, and had traveled all over the world. His passion was restoring antique tractors. He is survived by his children, Lynn (Sarah) Ista of Inver Grove Heights, Gary Ista (fiancA�A�A½e, Amy Berglund) of Rosemount, and Becky (Rich) Johnson of South St. Paul; five grandchildren, Jennifer (Todd) Flod, Jason Ista, Joshua Ista, Aaron Ista and Brett Ista; four great-grandchildren, Maranda, Cassandra, Jeremiah and Destine'e; brother, Darrell Ista of Hampton; and three nephews and one niece. He was preceded in death by his parents; and sister-in-law, June Ista. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 14 at 11:00 a.m. at the Lundberg Funeral Home in Cannon Falls, with Pastor Phillip Ruud officiating. Visitation will be held from 10-11 a.m. at the funeral home. Interment will follow at the Cannon Falls Cemetery. Active bearer will be Rich Johnson. Honorary bearers will be Aaron and Brett Ista.
