Norbert Charles Stoffel, age 88 of Cannon Falls, died on Sunday morning, June 14, 2009 at the Angels Care Center in Cannon Falls.
Norbert was born on March 9, 1921 in Vermillion, MN, the son of Marcus and Mary (Marschall) Stoffel.
He served with the US Army during WWII in Korea.
He married Lucille S. Kruse on November 21, 1942 in Miesville. They lived most of their married life in Empire, and owned and operated the Empire Supper Club from 1948-1985, when they retired. They were members of St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Farmington. He was also a life member of the VFW. They moved to Cannon Falls in 1988 and became members of St. Pius V Catholic Church.
Norbert was grateful for a full life!
He was preceded in death by his wife of over 59 years, Lucille on March 27, 2001; brothers, Jerome and Lawrence Stoffel; and sister, Mary Katherine Werner.
He is survived by his children, Eugene of Inver Grove Heights, Darlene (David) Roy of Winona, Norbert “Mark” (Emily Opitz) of Empire, and Patricia Stoffel (Dennis Janssen) of Inver Grove Heights; faithful companion, "Fritzie"; seven grandchildren, Amy (Marty) Ranweiler of Cannon Falls, Christopher (Jennifer) Roy of Madison, WI, Thysen (Thomas) Hetzel of Rollingstone, Stacey (Joel) Erickson of Iowa, Nicole (Douglas) Martin of Apple Valley, Aaron (Summer) Stoffel of Oklahoma, and Erich Stoffel of Empire; fifteen great-grandchildren; sisters and brothers, Martha (Paul) Greten of Hastings, Jervis Stoffel of St. Paul Park, Lewellyn (Bernie) Stoffel of Vermillion, and Rita (Bob) Zignego of Red Wing; sister-in-law, Delores Stoffel of St. Paul Park; very special friend, Leola Frame of Cannon Falls; and many nieces and nephews.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, June 19 at 11 a.m., with visitation from 10-11 a.m., at St. Pius V Catholic Church, 410 W. Colvill St., Cannon Falls, with Father Jay K. Kythe celebrating.
Private family interment with military honors will be held at the church cemetery.
Memorials are preferred to donor’s choice.
