Monica Marie Hunter, age 85, a resident of San Leandro, CA and formerly of the Cannon Falls area, died in Hayward, California on Saturday, April 7, 2007 at the age of 85 years.
Monica was born on April 21, 1921 in Blue Earth, MN, the daughter of George and Zola (Witter) Crist.
She married Gregory Schabert on December 9, 1939 in St. Paul. He died in 1958. She later married Elmo Hunter on 1959 in San Leandro, CA. He died in 1975.
Among other things, Monica was a health care worker. She enjoyed growing orchids, fishing and reading
She leaves behind four sons, Robert Schabert and his wife Dixie of Sparks, NV, Arnold Schabert of Thailand, Marvin Schabert and his wife Pat of Pleasanton, CA, and Daniel Schabert of Pittsburg, CA, 11 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren; sister, Dorrie Chapel of So. St. Paul; and brother, George Crist of Inver Grove Heights.
She was preceded in death by her parents; son, John Schabert on 1/25/2005; and husbands, Gregory Schabert and Elmo Hunter.
Visitation will be held on Friday, April 13 from 5-8 p.m. at Lundberg Funeral Home in Cannon Falls.
A graveside service will be held on Saturday morning, April 14 at 10 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery in New Trier.
Memorials are preferred to donor's choice.
Active pallbearers will be Jesse Schabert, Mark Sabin, James Francis, Greg Schabert, Ray Schabert and Cheryl Sabin.
