Mary Terwilliger

Mary Lee Terwilliger, age 73 of Cannon Falls, died at her home on Thursday morning, October 28, 2010. Mary was born on December 10, 1936 in Wanamingo, MN, the daughter of Lawrence and Lillian (Hoseth) Groth. She graduated from Wanamingo High School in 1954 and went on to the Minneapolis Business School the following year. She was employed at Ewald Brothers Dairy as their bookkeeper for two years. She married Nahum T. Terwilliger on February 14, 1960 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Wanamingo. Following their marriage, they moved to his father's farm, where she helped with farm chores while raising their family. She has been a longtime member of the Episcopal Church of the Redeemer in Cannon Falls, where she has served with the ladies' guild for many years. She enjoyed making pine needle baskets. She is survived by her husband of over 50 years, Nahum; seven children, Lawrence "Lance" of Cannon Falls, Andrew (Brenda) of Hudson, WI, John of NE Minneapolis, Charles "Chuck" (Jenny) of Kenosha, WI, Paul (Kathy) of Cannon Falls, Joseph (Amy) of Cannon Falls, and Michele of Welch; four grandchildren, two step grandchildren, and two step great-grandchildren with one step great-grandchild expected soon; sisters, L. Jean Hernke of Cannon Falls and Evelyn Townsend of Texas; and nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents; and two brothers, Ronald and Robert Groth. A memorial service will be held on Monday, November 1 at 11:00 a.m. at the Episcopal Church of the Redeemer in Cannon Falls, with the Reverend Roger C. Claxton officiating. Memorials are preferred to the Episcopal Church of the Redeemer or the American Lung Association.
