Marvin Burdette Olson, age 82 of Cannon Falls, died on Monday morning, April 23, 2007 at St. Brigid's at Hi-Park in Red Wing.
Marvin was born on June 17, 1924 in Wells, MN, the son of Fred and Laura (Gaines) Olson.
He served during W.W. II with the U.S. Army, receiving his honorable discharge in 1946.
Marvin married Gloria Elchuk on March 4, 1950 in Minneapolis. His passion was farming, and he farmed in Cannon Falls Township for many years. He had also worked in construction for 48 years with C.S. McCrossan and later Barbarossa Construction, both in Osseo. He was a member of the Local 49ers Union.
Upon retirement, he enjoyed traveling throughout Canada and the United States, including Alaska. He had also worked part-time for Peterson Turkey Farm in Cannon Falls.
Marvin enjoyed gardening, and also giving his grandchildren a hard time! He was a prankster, and would often tease them! He also enjoyed his daily trips to the Cannonball for coffee!
He is survived by his five children, Mark Olson of Cannon Falls, Kathy (Jim) Waldron of Heber Springs, Arkansas, Candace (Adam) Smith of Farmington, Michel Olson of Dallas, TX and Michael (Brenda) Olson of Red Wing; seven grandchildren, Vincent and Candace Waldron, Annie Marthaler, Bryan (Melissa) Marthaler, Paige and Stacia Olson, and Kristina Beacham; three great-grandchildren, Alexandra Olson, Hailey Reed, and Landon Marthaler.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and his beloved wife of 53 years, Gloria on October 12, 2003.
