Marlene Gayle Erickson, 71 of Cannon Falls, passed away Tuesday morning, November 10, 2009 at her home surrounded by her family, following a short illness.
Marlene was born July 31, 1938 in Red Wing, Minnesota, the daughter of Virgil and Rosella (Rapp) Holm. She was raised in in Cannon Falls and graduated from Cannon Falls High School in 1956. She was united in marriage to Jerome “Jerry” Erickson on August 5, 1960 at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. The couple made their home in Cannon Falls and Marlene worked as a cook for the Cannon Falls Elementary School until retiring in 1999 after 26 years of service. She was very involved at St. Ansgar’s Lutheran Church, loved to golf, knit & crochet as well as garden. She cherished her time with her family and friends and looked forward to their “coffee parties.”
Marlene is survived by her loving husband of 49 years, Jerry of Cannon Falls, her children; Lynn (Greg) Kurtz of Cannon Falls, Michael (June) Erickson of New Trier, Patricia (Thomas) Crosby of Cannon Falls, Kathrine (Jeffrey) Johnson of Inver Grove Heights, 11 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren and three sisters; Eleanor (Jack) Holt, Sharon (Jack) Dockter, both of Cannon Falls, & Janet (Larry) Provost of Lakeville.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, November 13, 2009, at St. Ansgar’s Lutheran Church, 7459 Hwy 19 Blvd. in Cannon Falls with Pastor Gary Schulz and Pastor Carol Sinykin, officiating. Burial will be in Cannon Falls Cemetery. Friends may call from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. Thursday at Lundberg Funeral Home, 5839 Hwy 19 Blvd., Cannon Falls and after 10:00 a.m. Friday at church. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred.
