Marland James "Peanuts" Husaby, age 93, a lifelong resident of Cannon Falls, died at home on Wednesday afternoon, February 5, 2025, surrounded by his loving family.
He was born on April 28, 1931 in Cannon Falls, Minnesota, the son of John and Christine (Quam) Husaby. He attended Cannon Falls Schools and married Senora "Cindy" Qualle on November 4, 1948 in Dennison. They made their home in Cannon Falls and had four children. He was a member of First English Lutheran Church in Cannon Falls. He worked as a mechanic and service manager at Lee Chevrolet and Oldsmobile in Cannon Falls from 1947 until his retirement in 2002.
Peanuts took Cindy roller skating on their first date. Over the years, they enjoyed dancing (so many polka fests) and family vacations "up north". Peanuts was a handy man in all respects and helped to build all three of the homes the family lived in over the years. He took great pride in his career as a mechanic. Peanuts would go fishing anytime someone asked and later in life found he had a little talent for golfing. He might be enjoying that again with his partner Jim Soule.
He was preceded in death by son, Roger in 1957; parents; sister, Joanne Molstrom; sons-in-law, Bill Langsdorf, Bruce Anderson, and John Althoff; and many brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.
He is survived by his wife of 76 years, Cindy; daughters, Karen (Royce) Anderson of Hastings, Phyllis Althoff of Cannon Falls, and LuAnn (Rick) Hughes of Cannon Falls; brother, Gerald (Marilyn) Husaby of Cannon Falls; sister, Jeanne (Bryan) Skillestad of Cannon Falls; sisters-in-law, Darlene Qualle and Arlene Qualle of Cannon Falls, and Leann Nelle Qualle of Red Wing; grandchildren, Heidi Anderson of Farmington, Mindy Bekker of Cottage Grove, Mitch (Angie) Althoff of Randolph, Mike (Stephanie) Althoff of Cannon Falls, Andy (Erica) Althoff of Cannon Falls, Christie (Jesse) Makarios of Lakeville, Mandy Langsdorf of Pine Island, Cole (Morgan) Langsdorf of Cannon Falls, Jake (Clare) Hughes of Fargo, ND, and Kara (Andy) MacDonald of Lester Prairie; 16 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held on Monday, February 24 at 11:00 am, with visitation from 9:30-11:00 am, at First English Lutheran Church, 511 W. Belle St., Cannon Falls.
