Marjorie "Marge" Kurtz

Marjorie Ann "Marge" Kurtz, age 93 of Cannon Falls, passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by her family on Saturday, August 17, 2024.

Marge was born on June 10, 1931 in Hastings, Minnesota, the daughter of Casper and Hildu (Jacobson) Gesme. She graduated from Cannon Falls High School, and later married Leslie Kurtz on October 24, 1953 at St. Ansgar's Lutheran Church, Cannon Falls. She worked at the Cannon Falls Schools for 28 years.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Leslie; daughter, Jill Otto; grandson, Thomas Kurtz; parents-in-law, George and Goldie Kurtz; special friend, Clyde Cross; and siblings, Doris Gesme, Ruth (Fillmore) Spillman, Wendell "Bud" (Rose) Gesme, Vivian (Kenneth) Brage, Harold (Lila) Gesme, and Luella (James) Chell; and brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Obert Kappedahl, Duane Anderson, Willard Finch, Robert (Janice) Kurtz, and LeaEtta (Alton) Anderson; and family friend, Harold Hamilton.

She is survived by her children, Tim (Nancy) Kurtz, Mary (Stan) Ohmann, Susan (Scott) Gustafson, and Tom (Sue) Kurtz, all of Cannon Falls; son-in-law, Donny (Karen) Otto of Cannon Falls; 8 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, 3 great-great grandchildren; sisters, Elaine Kappedahl of Anoka and Nadine Anderson of Cannon Falls; and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral service will be held on Sunday, August 25 at 2:30 pm, with visitation from 1:00 pm - 2:30 pm, at St. Ansgar's Lutheran Church, Cannon Falls. Interment will follow at the Cannon Falls Cemetery. This service will be livestreamed and available to watch below.

A dinner gathering will be held at the Grand O2 Event Center following services.

Casket bearers will be her grandchildren, Shelly Otte, Erin Klepperich, DJ Otto, Bruce Ohmann, Chad Gustafson, Andrew Kurtz, Travis Zweber, and Sam Kurtz.
