Marian E. Lindahl, age 92 of Cannon Falls, died on Monday afternoon, January 12, 2009 at the Fairview Red Wing Seminary Home, where she has resided the past four years.
Marian was born at home in White Rock on October 29, 1916, the youngest child to Arthur L. and Selma C. (Anderson) Swenson. She graduated from the Cannon Falls High School, and went on to normal training for teachers. She taught rural country school in Dakota and Goodhue Counties.
Marian married Gordon V. Lindahl on June 15, 1940 at the Spring Garden Lutheran Church.
She was an active member of St. Ansgar's Lutheran Church. She loved the children, and enjoyed teaching Sunday school for many years. She and her family loved attending Mount Carmel Bible Camp every summer!
Marian was active in the Cannon Falls Hospital Auxiliary, and had sold Avon and Amway for years.
Marian was a caregiver, and cared for her husband throughout his years of medical concerns. She will be remembered most for her devotion and great love for her husband and family!
She was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Gordon on June 12, 1997; parents, Arthur and Selma (Anderson) Swenson; sister, Violet Sammelson; and brothers, Archie, Milton and Rev. Maurice Swenson.
She is survived by her daughters, Marcia Kitto of Cloquet and Sandra Hohrman of Bloomington; grandson, Julian Gordon Kitto; sister-in-law, Dorothy Lindahl of Cannon Falls; and nieces and nephews.
Funeral service will be held on Saturday, January 17 at 2:00 p.m., with visitation from 1-2 p.m., at St. Ansgar's Lutheran Church in Cannon Falls, with Pastor Gary Schulz and Pastor Carol Sinykin officiating. Interment will follow at the Cannon Falls Cemetery.
Memorials are preferred in lieu of flowers. Memorial gifts in Marian's name may be given to Billy Graham, Animal Humane Society, or the Mayo Clinic.
Active pallbearers will be Willis, Merwyn, Richard and Ralph Swenson, Robert and Owen Sammelson, Larry Perkins, and Virgil Qualle.
