Mae Oldenburg

July 29, 1915 — March 3, 2008

Mae Marcella Oldenburg, age 92 of Cannon Falls, died on Monday evening, March 3, 2008 at the Angels Care Center, where she has been residing the past four years.



Mae was born on July 29, 1915 in St. Paul, and was later adopted by Edward and Cora (Hermel) Weithoff. They resided in Cordova, MN. Her mother, Cora later married Ernest Meierbachtol when Mae was a teenager, and they lived in Belle Plaine, MN.



Mae married Elmer C. Oldenburg on June 15, 1937 at St. John's Lutheran Church in Belle Plaine. Mae and Elmer lived in several communities, and Mae loved to teach Sunday School at the many churches they attended over the years. She loved the children!

They moved to Dennison and lived there the last years of their lives. They were members of the First English Lutheran Church in Cannon Falls.

Elmer died on January 28, 1994.

Mae enjoyed flower gardening; loved animals, especially cats and dogs; and loved going to county fairs and the MN State Fair.



She is survived by her daughter, Cora Lee Robinson of Stanton; two grandchildren, Patricia Robinson (Son Nguyen) of Charlotte, NC and James (Beth Kato) Robinson of Ham Lake; great-grandson, Zachary; step brother-in-law, Bill Koniarski of Belle Plaine, step sister-in-law, Jean Meierbachtol of Mesa, AZ, foster sister-in-law, Arlina Baumann of Belle Plaine, foster brother, Martin Baumann of Dixon, CA; sister-in-law, Irene Oldenburg of Cushing, MN; special friends, Norma Meinjohans of Sioux Falls, SD and Joyce Sheets of Stanton; and nieces and nephews.



She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Elmer; son-in-law, James Robinson; step brother, Jack Meierbachtol; step sister, Leona Koniarski; and foster brother-in-law, Harold Baumann.



Funeral service will be held on Friday, March 7 at 2 p.m., with a visitation from 1-2 p.m., at the First English Lutheran Church in Cannon Falls, with Pastor Phillip Ruud officiating.

Interment will follow at Wangen Prairie Lutheran Cemetery.

Memorials are preferred to the First English Lutheran Church.
