LuVerne A. Olson, age 88, of Northfield and formerly of Cannon Falls, died on Tuesday morning, November 6, 2007 at the Northfield Care Center.
LuVerne was born at home on the farm in Leon Township on November 27, 1918, the son of Oscar and Emma (Miller) Olson. He graduated from the Cannon Falls High School, and farmed in Leon Township all of his life until retirement.
He was a lifelong member of the Spring Garden Lutheran Church, where he was baptized, confirmed and married. He married Renay Swenson on June 25, 1941. He served on the Spring Garden Church council, the Wastedo School board, and farm co-ops.
He enjoyed traveling through all fifty states, and spending many years in Arizona with his wife, Renay. He loved playing golf, playing cards and visiting with family and friends. In retirement, he began woodworking and made numerous items to give as gifts. LuVerne's family was very important to him, and he will be greatly missed!
He is survived by his wife of over 66 years, Renay of Northfield; his four sons, David (Patricia), Larry (Carol) and John (Janice), all of Cannon Falls, and Paul (Mary) of Apple Valley; twelve grandchildren, Kerry (Linda) Olson, Kim (Dan) Alstrup, Kristi (Mark) Schaut, Robyn (Paul) Berg, Tricia, Jay (Heidi), Jeremy, Joshua, Bjorn (Anna), Ian, Thomas (Anngenette) and Jamie Olson; eleven great-grandchildren, Shaun Giles-Olson, Peggy (Scott) Beers, Zachary and Alyssa Mustful, Jonathon and Kristine Alstrup, Nicole and Emile Schaut, Randy, Marlee and Parker Berg; and three great-great-grandchildren, Hannah, Alexandra and Joey Beers. He is also survived by sister, Idella Clauson of Cannon Falls; brother-in-law, Vic Blastervold of Zumbrota; sisters-in-law, Norma Diercks of Red Wing and Ora Swenson of Zumbrota; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Oscar and Emma Olson; an infant daughter; and sister, Marion Blastervold.
Active pallbearers will be Kerry, Bjorn, Ian, Jay, Jeremy, Joshua and Thomas Olson.
Honorary pallbearers will be Kim Alstrup, Kristi Shaut, Robyn Berg, Tricia Olson and Jamie Olson.
Memorials are preferred to the American Cancer Society and the American Diabetes Association.
