Luther Marvin Quale, age 84 of Cannon Falls, died on Sunday evening, May 21, 2017 at Reflections-End of Life Care in Northfield, surrounded by his family. Luther was born on July 11, 1932, the son of Peter and Marianne (Flormoe) Quale. Luther proudly served with the US Army. Luther married Edith "Dolly" (Wangen) on June 6, 1959 at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa, and was an active member of First English Lutheran Church, Cannon Falls. He worked in construction with Steberg Construction, Wanamingo and later for Holm Bros. Construction, Goodhue. He was a boilerman for Mineral Springs Sanitarium, owned and operated Quale Excavating, and did road maintenance for 43 years with Warsaw Township in Goodhue County. Luther enjoyed tractors, including collecting toy tractors and refurbishing pedal tractors. He loved toy shows and flea markets. He also enjoyed time spent with Dolly, gardening, and feeding and watching wild birds. He will be remembered most for his love of family, his hearty laugh, and loving smile! He truly enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren. He is survived by his seven children, Larry (Wendy) Aamodt of Cannon Falls, Steve (Dawn) Aamodt of Rosemount, Carlyn (Tom) Schramske, Shelby (Jim) Ekstrom, and Kim (Rich) Howden, all of Cannon Falls, Lauri DuBois of Manchester, Maine, and Sue Quale of Cannon Falls; 18 grandchildren, Clayton (Kirsten) Aamodt, Kirstan Aamodt, Kari (Jeff) Peine, Jenny (Alex) Rosa, Jessy Anderson, Jamie (Nate) Goodmanson, Jen Burton, Geron (Becky) Schramske, Jesse Ekstrom, Aaron (Jill) Ekstrom, Arica Ekstrom, Shannon, Melissa and Rick Howden, Matthew DuBois, Shannon (Patrick) Daniel, Nick (Jessica) DuBois, and Mike (Jessica) Woodman; 26 great-grandchildren, Russell, Cheyenne, Sierra, Kaiden, Kennedy, Alex, Aria, Dylan, Jackson, Hannah, Brittany, Kiley, Laney, Hailey, Hayden, Slade, Avery, Carter, Grayson, Madden, Brooklynn, Madeleine, Julia, Jackson, Caroline, and Colin; two great-great-grandchildren, Addisen and Jace; sister, Gloria (Ed) May of Mankato; brother, Paul (Julie) Quale of Plymouth; sisters-in-law, Sharon Quale of Raleigh, NC and Judy (Bob) Iverson of St. Paul Park; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of nearly 52 years, Dolly; grandson, Jason Aamodt; and brother, Wendell Quale. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 24 from 4-8 p.m. at Lundberg Funeral Home in Cannon Falls. Funeral service will be held on Thursday, May 25 at 11:00 a.m., with visitation from 10-11 a.m., at First English Lutheran Church in Cannon Falls. Interment will follow at the Cannon Falls Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to donor's choice. Active pallbearers will be grandsons, Clayton Aamodt, Geron Schramske, Jesse and Aaron Ekstrom, Rick Howden and Matthew DuBois, and great-grandson, Alex Aamodt. Honorary pallbearers will be the remaining grandchildren, Kirstan Aamodt, Kari Peine, Jenny Rosa, Jessy Anderson, Jamie Goodmanson, Jen Burton, Arica Ekstrom, Shannon and Melissa Howden, Shannon Daniel and Nick DuBois.
