Lorraine M. Johnson passed away at her home on Tuesday, March 26th, 2024 at the age of 93.
Lorraine Marian Johnson was born February 4, 1931, on the family farm in Sogn. She was the daughter of Lewis and Mae (Ohnstad) Strand. After her father's death at the age of 10, the family moved to Cannon Falls where Lorraine graduated from CFHS in 1949.
On November 26th 1949 Lorraine married Leslie (Scottie) Johnson in Rochester with her friends Dale and Vi Lorenson attending. Lorraine and Les raised two sons, Bruce and Greg, first in the Vets housing complex and later in the home on the east side of Cannon Falls.
Lorraine had several jobs; at the Dairy Bar, bakery, and finally Kid Duds for 30 years. She was a lifetime member of St Ansgar's Lutheran Church, both Circle and Alter Guild. She was a member of the VFW Women's' auxiliary and enjoyed being a 'book buddy' at Cannon Falls Elementary School for many years.
Lorraine and Les enjoyed time spent with friends and family at their lake cabin in Aitken and later camping in their motor home. She enjoyed working with flowers and was an avid and talented quilter for many years.
She was exceptionally proud of her six granddaughters and what they had accomplished.
She is preceded in death by her husband of 52 years Leslie, son Bruce, parents; Lewis and Mae Strand, step-father; George Flom, special friend; Grant Larson. Her two sisters and their husbands; Harriet and Vern Flaaen and Marcie and Curtis Hinrichs.
She is survived by her son Greg (Sheri) Johnson, daughter-in-law Diane Johnson, granddaughters, Pam (Andy) Hunter, Chrissy (Doug) John, Laura (Eric) Burvee, Whitney (Jon) Grimes, Jenny (Kevin) Deutsch, and Angie Johnson; 15 great-grandchildren; brother Sid (Bonnie) Strand; and nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday, April 4 at 11 am, with visitation from 10-11 am, at St. Ansgar's Lutheran Church, Cannon Falls. Interment will be at a later date at the church cemetery.
Honorary pallbearers will be her granddaughters.
In lieu of flowers, the family request donations to the Nelson-Scofield VFW Post 4452.
