Lois Elisabeth Wenker, age 92, passed away on January 20 at Cannon Rivers Assisted Living Memory Care.
Lois was born on August 20, 1932. She was one of eight children born to Otto and Myrtle Hormann. She grew up on a farm west of Wheaton, Minnesota. She married Kenneth Wenker on August 26, 1952. Together they had eight children.
Lois is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, step-mother Ida Hormann, sisters Jane DePew and Ila Hervey, brothers Dale Hormann and Roy Hormann, daughter Rhonda Jorgensen, granddaughter Sharon Theis, son-in-law Bruce Johnson, her in-laws Nick and Faye Wenker, brothers-in-law Ollie DePew, Pat Wenker, Frank Wenker, Ron Hervey, and George Leppanen.
She is survived by her children Glen, Janet Gaspar, Connie Theis (Rick), Diane Johnson, Brian (Dawn), David (Tammy) and Kevin, sisters Rita Leppanen, Avis (Jerry) Grohs, and Ione Reynolds; step-brothers Melvin (Kathy) Saterbak and Myron Saterbak, and sisters-in-law Shirley Hormann and Gwen Wenker. She had 15 grandchildren and over 30 great-grandchildren. Lois is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
She will be greatly missed by all who were fortunate enough to know her.
We want to give special thanks to the staff at Cannon Rivers for the excellent care of mom for the last 3 years. And, a huge thank you to the special care the last 3 months from the Brighton Hospice staff. And, thanks to Theresa Miller from Goodhue County Assistance.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 am, Wednesday, January 29, 2025, at St. Pius V Catholic Church, 410 Colvill St. W, Cannon Falls, MN 55009. There will be a visitation one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be in the St. Pius V Catholic Cemetery. This service will be live-streamed and available to watch below.
