Lila H. Gesme, 80, of rural Cannon Falls, died early Tuesday morning, November 7, 2006 in her home following a lengthy illness.
Lila Harriet Gesme was born on June 18, 1926 in Goodhue County the daughter of Harry and Mabel (Underdahl) Knutson. She grew up in the Moland area, near Kenyon. On August 24, 1947 she was united in marriage to Harold Casper Gesme at Moland Lutheran Church in rural Kenyon.
She was an active member of St. Ansgar's Lutheran Church where she was the former secretary/treasurer for L.C.W. She was involved in the Pine Creek Home Study Group and volunteered with Meals on Wheels and the United Way for several years. Lila especially enjoyed her family and looked forward to times they could spend together. She will be lovingly remembered for her welcoming smile, her love for her family, and her endless cups of coffee.
Lila is survived by her husband of 59 years, Harold; her children, Darlene (Curtis) Burdick of Cannon Falls, Barbara (David) Lamp of Brownton, Keith (Ann) Gesme of Cannon Falls, Roger Gesme of Cannon Falls, and Jean (Kim) Faust of Vasa; grandchildren, Becky, Jeff, Missy & Mindy Burdick, Josh (Amber) Lamp, Kelly (Kyle) Otto, Tammi & Mark Gesme, Jenna Gesme, Renae (Chip) Otto, Rachel & Emily Faust; four great-grandchildren, Bryce Lamp, Kendrick and Karter Otto, and Colton Otto; sister-in-law, Georgianna Knutson of Phoenix, Arizona; and many nieces and nephews, loving family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her sister, Alma Knutson and her brother, Harland Knutson.
