Leonard Lodermeier

Rest in peace... Leonard John Lodermeier, age 90 of Goodhue, MN died on Friday morning, September 27, 2013 at St. Brigid's at Hi-Park in Red Wing. Leonard was born on February 15, 1923 in Urbank, MN, the son of Martin and Christine (Hagemann) Lodermeier. Growing up in Wisconsin and Minnesota, with an 8th grade education, Len found work in the Civilian Conservation Corps. Innovative, he became skilled as a welder, working in the Superior, WI shipyards. Also, he served as a Sergeant in WWII with the 211th Army Air Force Base Unit. Marrying Rose Mary Gadient April 12, 1947, he found roots in Goodhue starting his business with three of his brothers repairing cars, expanding to farm equipment. Lodermeier's Inc. now is in its second/third generation. He also enjoyed farming with his brothers and family. Mainstay of the Goodhue community, he devoted countless hours through the fire department, city council, White Rock Bank Board, Meals on Wheels, Goodhue Historical Society, and SEMMCHRA. Leonard enjoyed hunting, fishing, golfing, and spending time at the cabin. He was very proud of his family and community. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife of 54 years, Rose Mary on August 9, 2001; brothers, twins Ralph and Frank, Alphonse, Edwin, Norbert, and Jerome. He is survived by seven children, 20 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren: Gary (Judy) of Cottage Grove, and their family, Michael (Andrea), Jeffrey (Michelle) and Aspen and Graham, Mark (Lisa) and Drew and Bennett; Jennifer (Bruce) Wilson of Livermore, CA and their family, Alex (Jenna), Emily (Nick) Childers, and Andrew (Kat); Richard (Roxanne) of Goodhue and their family, Katie (Jeremy) Schafer and Dylan, Gavin and Ruby, Ashley (Dan) Agenten and Avy, Cameron and Jakobe, Brent (Christie) and Sophia, Finn and Liam, Tyler (Debra) and Aayden, and Brittney (Phil) Zorn; Peggy (Kevin) O'Connor of Goodhue and their family, Jess (Dan) Watje, Sadie, and Ben (Nikki) and Jaysa; John (Teresa) of Zumbrota and their family, Justin (Kate) and Mason and Carter, Tara (Brian) Hofschulte and Taylor and Cadence, Ryan (Maria) and Caden and Keagan, Brayden, Elyse and Kamren; Donna (Randy) Lott of Lakeville, and Roger (Bonnie) of Cannon Falls; brothers and sisters, Eugene (Hazel) of Balsam Lake, WI, Lorraine Utecht of Coon Rapids, Victor of Amery, WI, Clarice Lodermeier of Boynton Beach, FL and Leroy (Eileen) of Amery, WI; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Jeanne Lodermeier, Brona Lodermeier, Regina Morelan, Ray (Ruth) Gadient, Louis Ward, Agnes Gadient, Kay Gadient, Shirley Gadient, Neta Gadient and Berdell Gadient; and many nieces and nephews. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, October 1 at 11:00 a.m. at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Goodhue with Father Paul Kubista and Father Bruce Peterson con-celebrating. Interment with military honors will follow at St. Columbkill Catholic Cemetery, Belle Creek Township. Visitation will be on Monday from 4-8 p.m. and Tuesday from 10-11 a.m., all at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Goodhue. Active pallbearers will be grandsons, Michael, Jeffrey and Mark Lodermeier, Alex and Andrew Wilson, Brent and Tyler Lodermeier, Ben O'Connor, Justin, Ryan, Brayden and Kamren Lodermeier.
