Leallan Croatt

Leallan “Lee” "Butch" Nicholas Croatt, age 64 of Cannon Falls, passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by family on Sunday morning, February 21, 2010 after a 15 month battle with ALS.

Leallan was a native of St. Lucas, IA and a 30 year resident of Apple Valley, MN before moving to rural Cannon Falls.  He served his country in the US Army. During his 33 year career at the University of Minnesota he was a Director of Computer Information Services.  After his retirement in 1998 he became active with the American Red Cross.  He volunteered for several national disasters including Hurricane Katrina, the 2008 flooding in Southeastern MN, the Southern Iowa flooding and the 35W bridge collapse.  He served as the Disaster Chairperson and on the Board of Directors for the Goodhue County Red Cross Chapter.  He also served on the Advisory Council for the Southeastern Minnesota Region of the Red Cross. After Leallan was diagnosed with ALS (Lou Gehrig’s disease) he became passionate about ALS awareness and research.  He also became the first ALS Chairperson for the MN MDA. This passion led him to be an organ donor for the Boston VA program for ALS research.
