Larry Provost, Sr, age 79, of Lakeville and formerly of Cannon Falls, died Friday, November 1, 2024 at the VA Medical Center in Minneapolis.
Lawrence Henry Provost Sr. was born on September 8, 1945 in Ruffin, South Carolina. He grew up and went to school there, graduating from Garrett High School in 1963. Following High School he attended Palmer Business College, and Aurora Community College in Illinois. Larry joined the U. S. Air Force in 1966. He was honorably discharged in 1970, having attained the rank of Staff Sergeant. While stationed in Hawaii, Larry was married to Janet Holm in 1970. The young couple returned to the mainland and lived in both South Carolina and Minnesota before settling permanently in Minnesota in 1977. Larry worked in the Flooring Business as a salesman and coached various sports. He enjoyed gardening and, most especially, playing golf. He was a member of the VFW and the Cannon Golf Course.
Survivors include his wife Janet, son Larry Jr. (Britt) Provost, grandchildren Gunnar Provost, Mallory Provost, and Talan Provost, many special nieces and nephews, great-nieces and nephews, and great-great-nieces and nephews; as well as the loving family that he grew up with in South Carolina. He was preceded in death by his parents, son Jason, mother-in-law and father-in-law Virgil and Rosella Holm, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, and a nephew.
Memorials are suggested to the Cannon Golf Course.
Memorial services will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, Nov. 9, 2024 at St. Ansgar's Lutheran Church, 7459 Hwy 19 Blvd, Cannon Falls, MN 55009. There will be a visitation one hour prior to the service at the Church. Military honors will be accorded by the Cannon Falls Veteran's Honor Guard.
