Larry Van Guilder, age 81, passed away at home surrounded by family and joined his loving wife in heaven on Thursday, March 18, 2021.

Larry George Van Guilder, son of George and Jean Van Guilder, was born on June 9,1939 in Cannon Falls. He attended grade school and high school in Cannon Falls, graduating from Cannon Falls High School in 1956. On May 17, 1958, Larry married Shirley Ann Krupp at Trinity Lutheran Church in Faribault. Together, they raised three children Julie, Steven, and Lisa. Larry now joins their fourth child Amy in heaven. Following high school, Larry joined the Army Reserve and was honorably discharged in 1964 after 8 years of service. He worked as a mechanic at an independently owned shop and then worked at Dabelow Pontiac Buick as a body man. He then attended Dunwoody Institute for carpentry. Larry then worked for James Steele Construction. He started Larry Van Guilder Construction in the spring of 1975. His son Steve joined him in the family business in 1984 and it became Van Guilder Construction. Larry retired in 1998 and Steve continued the business in 1999.

Larry had a wide variety of hobbies and was known as a Jack-of-all-trades. His greatest passions since he was a child were fishing, boating, and waterskiing. He took pride in riding his Indian motorcycle and being a part of the Antique Motorcycle Club of America. Larry loved to restore antique motorcycles, he spent countless hours in his shop creating pristine collectibles. He thoroughly enjoyed riding dirt bike in the Arizona desert during the many winters he and Shirley spent there.

He is survived by his children, daughter Julie Van Guilder (Mark Jones), son Steven (Jackie) Van Guilder, daughter Lisa (Greg) Miller; grandchildren Molly Duncan, Hillary (Jackson) Meeker, Amy (Khalil) Webb, Jacob Van Guilder (Leah Tschakert), Benjamin (Alison) Haberman, Harlie Miller (Justin Nelson), Emelia Miller, Houston Miller (Danielle Kimmes), and Noah Haberman; great-grandchildren Jackson Connor Meeker, Van, Livette, and Wren Webb, Samuel Ben Avraham, Lucy and Aria Haberman; sisters Sandra (Donald) Hansen and Patricia Van Guilder; sister-in-law Arlene Law; brother-in-law Sherman Hommedahl; and many other loving family members and friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley of 60 years; parents George and Jean Van Guilder; in-laws Emil and Frieda Krupp; daughter Amy Lyn Van Guilder, baby Van Guilder (grandchild); brothers Fahey Law and Mike Van Guilder; and sisters Jean Hommedahl and Anita Budenski.

The family asks that any memorials be donated in Larry’s memory to Mayo Clinic Alzheimer's Research.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, March 23rd from 4-7pm at First English Lutheran Church, 511 W. Belle St., Cannon Falls, MN 55009. Funeral services will be on Wednesday, March 24th at 11am, with visitation from 10-11am at First English Lutheran Church. Private family burial to follow the service.
