LaDonna M. Jonas, age 89, of Goodhue, died Wednesday, Oct. 14 at St. Crispin Living Community in Red Wing.
LaDonna Marian Jonas was born on August 20, 1931 in Red Wing, the daughter of Clarence and Lucille (Bremer) Opsahl. She grew up in Goodhue and graduated from high school there in 1949. Following high school LaDonna worked for the Vasa Children’s Home. In 1950 she was united in marriage to Arnold Jonas. She worked for 37 years as a cook and waitress in various restaurants in Goodhue, retiring at age 67. LaDonna was an active member of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church. She was involved in the Ladies Aid, was a Sunday School teacher, and served as the church janitor. She was also a member of the Red Hat Society.
Survivors include her children Char (Dale) Holm, Rod (Shirley) Jonas, and Scott (Gretchen) Jonas; grandchildren Travis Holm, Tiffany (Shannon) Harrell, Missy (Jeromie) Taylor, Jason (Nicole) Jonas, Daniel (Katie) Jonas, and Thomas Jonas; great-grandchildren Brady, Jaxon, Drew, Paige, Finley, Emmette, Cohen, Kempton, and Laken; brothers Gary (Marlys) Opsahl and Dean (Diane) Opsahl; sister Dorothy (Richard) Prophet; sister-in-law Dolly Opsahl; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Arnold, her parents Clarence and Lucille, and her brother Harvey Opsahl.
A family memorial service for LaDonna will be held on Friday, October 30 at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Goodhue. There will be a time for fellowship with the family and a light lunch at 5:30 pm at the Lions Building, 105 Broadway St, Goodhue, MN 55027. Masks and social distancing will be required.
