Keith Rueben Johnson, age 66 of Cannon Falls, died peacefully on Thursday evening, June 24, 2010 at the VA Medical Center in Minneapolis.
Keith was born on February 22, 1944 in Red Wing, the son of Frank C. and Florence M. (Hagman) Johnson. He grew up in Cannon Falls, and graduated from the Cannon Falls High School in 1961. He went on to college and graduated from Mankato State University in 1969. Keith was a middle school teacher with the Rosemount-Apple Valley School District, from 1970 until retiring in 2002.
Keith served with the US Army during the Vietnam era until his honorable discharge on March 19, 1967.
Keith enjoyed fishing, and loved to go to his place at Nevis, MN.
He is survived by his son, Christopher of Cannon Falls; sister, Dorothy (Wallace) Swanson of Hastings; brothers, Earl (Norma) Johnson and Conrad (Carol) Johnson, all of Cannon Falls; and stepchildren, many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Florence; brothers, Verne and Marlo Johnson; and sister, Karen (Joel) Huelskamp.
A memorial service will held on Monday, June 28 at 11:00 a.m. at the Lundberg Funeral Home in Cannon Falls, with Pastor Arthur Sharot officiating. An honor guard farewell will be provided by the VFW Nelson Scofield Post #4452.
Interment with military honors will be held Fort Snelling National Cemetery on Wednesday, June 30 at 1:45 p.m. We will meet at funeral Assembly Area #2.
Visitation will be held on Sunday from 2-5 p.m. and Monday from 10-11 a.m. at the funeral home.
Honorary pallbearers will be Michelle and Dawn Swanson, Korey and Russell Nystuen, and Christopher Johnson.
