Katherine Mary “Katie” O’Connor, age 54 of Goodhue, died peacefully at home on Saturday, April 3, 2010.
Katie was born on June 9, 1955 in Saint Paul, the daughter of John and Mae (Faricy) Neisen. She graduated from Simley High School in 1973, and went on to attend Inver Hills Community College for two years.
Katie married Tom O’Connor on November 8, 1975 in Inver Grove Heights. They made their home in rural Goodhue, and were members of St. Columbkill Catholic Church. While raising their family, she also did daycare and cleaning services in the area.
Katie enjoyed the outdoors and riding horseback. She loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She will be remembered most for her sense of humor and her welcoming smile!
She is survived by her loving husband of over 34 years, Tom; her children, Michael (Sarah) O’Connor of Elko and their children, Carson (4) and Ryan (1), Robert (Mindy) O’Connor of Goodhue and their children Reagan (8), Hallie (5) and Colin (3), Mark O’Connor of Lake City, Tim (Abbey) O’Connor of Zumbrota and their son, Gabriel (3 months), and Malory O’Connor of Goodhue; her mother, Mae Neisen of Inver Grove Heights; sisters and brother, Peggy (Jim) Riley of Kimberling City, MO, Cindy (Richard) Berger of St. Paul, Lynn (Dan) Mrozinski and Jay (Rae) Neisen, all of Inver Grove Heights; many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She is also survived by many loving in-laws.
She was preceded in death by her sons, Jerome Thomas O’Connor and Patrick John O’Connor; her father, John Neisen; and parents-in-law, Edward and Geraldine O’Connor.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, April 8 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Columbkill Catholic Church in Belle Creek Township, with Father Bruce Peterson as celebrant. Interment will follow at the church cemetery.
Visitation will be held at the church on Wednesday from 4-8 p.m. and Thursday from 9:30-10:30 a.m.
Active pallbearers will be her nephews, Brandon and Brian Schafer, Shawn and Scott Frederixon, Chris O’Connor, Aaron Rhody and Lee Mrozinski. Honorary pallbearers will be her nieces, Jodi Sullivan, Kelli Sontag, Jen Berg, Shelly Liffrig and Haley Ryan.
